- 17 July - 3rd august 1789
- Attacked houses of royal officials forcing them to flee
- Old municipal town councils were reform into national guard units to maintain a citizens authority
- Peasants believed that changes in the capital would result in the end of their burden
- Refused to pay taxes and attacked their lords chateaux
- Destroyed their masters terriers (feudal rights) and titres de ventes et devoirs which record dues owned
- Believed if these were destroyed their feudal obligations would disappear

- 1788 spring droughts followed by poor harvest and a bad winter
- Cahiers de doleances and elections had raised expectations of reform
- Story circulated that the nobles were stealing grain, preparing to attack farming families, or the ones that had fled were coming back with foreign armies to attack the peasants

The abolition of feudal rights (August decrees)

- 4th august 1789
- To ensure the peasants paid their state taxes and to further enlightenment values
- Other decrees were worked out
- All feudal dues were abolished without compensation to landlords
- Exclusive rights of hunting and owning pigeons were abolished
- All tithes and fees abolished
- No more venality

- Passed on the 26th august
- laid out the principle of liberty equality and fraternity
- Louis refused to accept the AD and DM
- Went against his sense of duty and belief in divine right

The October days (why)
A
- Louis remained hesitant and contraceptive
- Assembly curbs his power by offering him a suspensory veto rather than an absolute one
- Seen summoning troops back into paris and fear that the assembly would be closed soared
- A banquet is held to celebrate the reuters of the kings flounder where they toast oaths of loyalty to the king and apparently destroy the revolutionary tribunal

The October days (5th october)
A
- 6000 Women struggling to feed their families march forma paris to versaille followed by lafayette and the national guard to maintain order
- Gain access to the palace and press louis to accept the AD and DM
- After accepting the royal family are escorted to paris as their new home - 6th october
- 2 weeks later the assembly also move to paris making them subject to the scrutiny of the parisian mob
