A

Accounts for 90% of cases, is caused by building up a resistance to insulin, usually due to obesity

What are examples of diseases that can induce diabetes?

A

Acromegaly - causes the release of glucose from cells
Cushings disease - excess cortisol production, which is a counter-regulatory hormone of insulin
Chronic pancreatitis - common in alcohol abuse, no pancreas left to produce insulin

Polyuria, polydipsia, weight loss, glycosuria, recurrent skin infraction due to glucose secreted onto skin
