  • Depression = marked by sad mood and loss of interest or pleasure in things

  • Insomnia = Makes it hard to go to sleep, may feel fatigued
  • Parasomnia = causes abnormal behavior while sleeping (eg. talking or sleepwalking)

Affect how the brain processes information, disorders are acquired, meaning that the cognitive deficit was not present at birth (eg. alzheimers)

It is thought to be attributable to genetic mutation in brain cells
