in Pepys diary he admitted to cheating on his wife and beating her aswell as the other women he entertained

fire occured at a time of plague, this seemed to eradicate the plague largely
london had alrwady been experiencing a drought leading up to the great fire
there was no national fire service at the time
rumours around the dutch and the french began to spread as a result of the fire
