Q

practical -
measuring the energy content of a food sample:

A
  • measure 25 cm3 of water into a boiling tube and record starting temperature
  • measure the mass of food
  • then mount food onto skewer
  • set fire to food using bunsen burner
  • hold the burning food under the boiling tube until it goes out
  • keep doing this until the food wont light
  • measure the finial temperature of water
    then use equation

ENERGY IN J = MASS OF WATER IN G X TEMPERATURE CHANGE X 4.2 / MASS OF FOOD
