why did wilson want free access to sea during peace and war time? did he get this? why/why not?

A

he wanted it to:
promote free trade and economic stability, prevent future conflict and war, he wanted to protect neutral nations (tha tmay be affected by war), to have a more governed world
he did not achieve this because:
Britain didn’t want it and they had leverage during ToV, Britain saw it as a security threat, theybelieved it would undermine any wartime advantages int he future.

what was the Warsaw rising? what is its significance?

A

The 1944 Warsaw uprising was the single largest military effort undertaken by resistance forces to oppose German occupation during World War II.
The Soviet Red Army was positioned outside the city but did not provide significant support, which contributed to the uprising’s failure.
This angered the polish - relates to Solidarity and frustration with russia i think but check

who is Andropov?

A

A prominent soviet politician.
you need to know who he is because…
he is well known for his suppression of the Hungarian Uprising.
Andropov played a key role in crushing the uprising. He convinced Khrushchev that military intervention was necessary. Andropov is known as “The Butcher of Budapest” for his ruthless suppression of the uprising.
