Discretion / FTL / OMA 7 Flashcards

1
Q

What are the core and phased FTL tables?

A

Phased is transitional from CAP371 to EASA

Reverting to core gives us 2 hours discretion

Our discretion amends the core EASA FTL limits (in OMA)

Q

On a local night standby, when would FDP start at report?

A

When standby start time AND report time are in the same FDP period (e.g. 0800-1259) AND notice was 2 hours or less.

If standby is more than 2 hours, then FDP starts counting from anything over 2 hours, and the more limiting FDP window is used.

4
Q

How long before FDP starts counting during a standby?

Which FDP window would you use?i

A

Must have been on standby for 6 hours before FDP starts reducing. Otherwise, FDP starts on report.

If standby and report time were in different FDP windows, use the more limiting one.

Q

What is Extended FDP?

How many per 7 days?

Extended duties give a buffer for any unforeseen delays on a longer route.

Discretion is still based on core EASA.

Minimum pre- and post- flight rest +2h
OR post flight rest +4h

2 per 7 days
(ONE per 7 days iaw FRMS)

Remain acclimatised to the start time zone for 48 hours, regardless of where you have gone

Over 48 hours, see table.

Fatigue Risk Management System

Part of the Safety Management System

Ensure all crew sufficiently alert, satisfactory level of performance and safety

32
Q

When can the company delay your report?

A

Before I have left my place of rest

This postpones the FDP

33
Q

What is a disruptive schedule?

What implications?

A

Starts 0500-0659L or
Ends 2300-0159L

One FDP or group thereof

Disrupts sleep during optimum window

If 4 early start / late finish / night duties in a block, the following RERRP is 60 hours (5 days)

34
Q

What is a contactable?

41
Q

When can we extend up to 2 hours?

A

Based on Basic FDP (acclimatised)
7.1.5.4.1

After reporting time for the unforeseen only, consult crew for alertness

Can exceed the 2 hours, on the last sector if delay happens after departure

If over an hour, report sent to CAA within 28 days

Non-punitive

42
Q

How can the company delay report?

What is the effect on FDP?

A

Before leaving home (90’- 120’ for CC)

Or, can establish a notification time so crew can remain at place of rest

With delay <4h, FDP stays on original report

Above 4 hours, FDP starts at new report (use most limiting FDP window)

If delay exceeds 10 hours with no further disturbance, counts as rest period.

Can only be a second delay to report if at a base with no rest room.

43
Q

Does positioning count as a sector?

A

No, but it does count as FDP and as duty time.

Q

How much does a standby (other than airport) count towards duty hours?

Does it reduce FDP?

When can it not reduce FDP?

A

100% in FRMS (25% otherwise)

FDP starts at report. Reduced by any time on standby over 6 hours.

If standby overnight (2300-0700), none of this counts towards FDP reduction (core)- BUT half counts in FRM.

49
Q

Does a home standby ever count as a night / early start duty?

A

Yes. Depends on start time:
0200-0459 Night duty
0500-0659 Early start

0200-0659 EZY early start

A

To tick the box re: Fatigue Management Training

59
Q

What is the commander’s discretion policy wording?

A

An aircraft commander may, at their discretion and provided they are satisfied that the flight can be made safely,
