What is the traditional take on civil disobedience?

Answer 1

It is generally better within a society for people to follow laws as if everyone went against laws they didn’t like we would probably have anarchy. To over turn a law you must have good proof to support your protest. This does not apply to dictatorships.

Question 2

What are the 4 conditions for what makes civil disobedience moral?

Answer 2

1. Principled- must help lots of people
2. Non-violent- what can’t be done peacefully shouldn’t be done violently
3. Non-legal- it isn’t disobedience if it isn’t illegal
4. Punishment must be willingly accepted- shows you are serious about your case
