Disorders of Musculoskeletal System 1 Flashcards
1
Q
What are the 3 types of Muscular tissue?
A
- Skeletal tissue
- Cardiac tissue
- Smooth tissue
2
Q
What are the functions of muscular skeletal tissue?
A
- Produing movements - Movements of the whole body (walking, running), and localised movements (grasping a pencil, keyboarding, nodding head) rely on the integral functioning of skeletal muscles, bones, and joints.
- Stabilising body positions - Skeletal muscle contractions stabilize joints and help maintain body positions, such as standing or sitting.
- Storing & moving substances within the body - Skeletal muscle contractions promote the flow of lymph and aid the return of blood in veins to the heart.
- Generating heat (Thermogenesis) - Involuntary contractions of skeletal muscles, known as ‘shivering’, can increase the rate of heart production.

Q
What are the common investigation techniques for skeletalmuscular system?
A
- Synovial fluid analysis
- Plain radiography
- Other imaging techniques
- Blood tests for inflammation and systemic diseases
- Bone mineral density measurements.
4
Q
What is acute monoarthritis?
A
Inflammation (arthritis) of one joint at a time.
