What is an eco-system?
A community and habitat in which organisms live in.
What physical factors affect the distribution of organisms?
Temperature, amount of light, availability of water, nutrients, oxygen and carbon dioxide.
What is the meaning of Community?
All the populations of different organisms that live together in a habitat.
What is a transect? & how it is used?
It is a line across the whole or a part of an habitat. This shows the number of organisms of each species can be observed and recorded at regular intervals along the transect.
What is a quadrat & how is it used?
A quadrat is usually a square made of wire, the organisms beneath plants can be observed.
What are the benefits of using a quadrat?
Samples can be collected from different places. The reliability of the results increase as more quadrats are taken. In addition, it can be used for slow-moving animals e.g snail, slug.
