What is the nervous system?
Network of cells in the human body, body’s internal communication system
What is the function of the nervous system?
-collect,process and respond to info from the environment
-control organs in cell body
Nervous system divided into 2 main parts
-Central nervous system
-peripheral nervous system
CNS consists?
Brain and spinal cord
PNS is divided into
-Autonomic nervous system
-somatic nervous system
(CNS) brains functions?
-receives and process info from senses e.g visual cortex process visual info
-stores memories
-initiate responses
(CNS) spinal cord
-controls reflex actions e.g removing hand when touch hot
(PNS) autonomic nervous system
1= responsabile for involuntary responses e.g breathing, heart rate
(PNS) somatic nervous system
1= responsabile for voluntary movements such as walking
(PNS) Autonomic nervous system has 2 branches? Name them
-Sympathetic beach = fight or flight response
-parasympathetic branch= conserve e restore body energy when relaxed
