Q

belief that Jesus is son of god - support

A

-in john 10:30, clearly thought he was claiming to be GOd since wanted to stone him to death for blasphemy however this still proves nothing because in 10:36-8 Jesus in reply says he is son of God doing his Father’s work and seems to be simply saying that by ‘son of god’ he mans doing work God would want him to do

Q

belief Jesus is son of God - challenge

A
  • if ‘son of god’ is taken in the trinitarion sense, then Jesus’ authority is God’s authority. if taken in a liberal sense then Jesus’ authority i merely human and the solution to this issue has a huge impact on question of Jesus’ moral authority
  • one thing to follow teachings as son of god but another if he is just human
