Doppler Effect & Work, Energy, Power Flashcards
(7 cards)
Definition: Doppler Effect
The change in frequency of the sound detected by the listener, because the sound source and the listener have different velocities relative to the medium of sound propagation
Work done on an object by a constant force F
Is FΔxcosθ, where F is the magnitude of the force, Δx is the magnitude of displacement and θ the angle between the force and displacement
Work Energy Theorem
The work done by an object by a net force is equal to the change in the objects kinetic energy
Conservative Force
is a force in which the work done in moving an object between 2 points is independent of the path taken
Non-conservative Force
Is a force in which the work done in moving an object between 2 points is dependent on the path taken
Principle of conservation of mechanical energy
The total mechanical energy (sum of the potential and kinetic energy) remains constant in an isolated system
Power
The rate at which work is done
