16
Q

Percolation

A

Where water moves down from the soil into rocks

17
Q

River discharge

A

Water leaving the drainage system through the river

18
Q

What’s the difference between impermeable and permeable

A

Permeable allows water to pass through while impermeable doesn’t allow water to pass through

19
Q

Name the four types of erosion?

A

Attrition, solution, abrasion and hydraulic action

20
Q

Name the four types of transportation

A

Solution, saltation, traction and suspension

21
Q

What are the meaning of the four types of erosions

A

Attrition is rocks hitting each other,
Abrasion is rocks grinding against riverbed
Solution is beds and banks being dissolved in weaker acids in water
And hydraulic action is the force of the water being force into the banks and forcing air into crack causing it to widen therefore causing it collapse

22
Q

Meanings of the four types of transportation

A

Traction is larger fragments rolling along river bed
Saltation is large fragments bouncing along river bed
Suspension is smaller fragments carried in the follow of the river
Solution is dissolved minerals carried in river

23
Q

What is deposition

A

When river doesn’t have energy to transport the material and drop its off

24
Q

How is waterfall formed

A

Waterfall are found when hard rock is found over soft rock. As soft rock erodes away faster then hard a step develops and created a plunge pool. The force of hydraulic action and abrasion into the plunge oil causes undercutting of the hard rock and create and overhang. Overtime the overhang collapses and the waterfall retreats slowly upstream leaving behind a gorge

25
Q

Describe how a bed load changes with distance from source

A

Bedload size decreased changes the farther away you are from the source as it gets eroded down

26
Q

What’s the difference between impermeable and permeable

A

Impermeable means water cannot pass through but water can pass through permeable
