What does MISMM stand for?
Mirrors, indicate, search (give way/stop or headchecks), move, mirror.
What do I do when pulling into a flush median?
MISMM to the right.
What do I do when turning around in a cul de sac?
Check mirror, indicate right, follow curb around and head heck halfway.
How do I do a U-Turn?
MISMM to the right, give way to oncoming and behind traffic.
If I’m going left at a intersection, who do I need to give way to?
People coming from my right.
If I’m going straight ahead at an intersection, who do I need to give way to?
People from my left and right.
If I’m going right at an intersection, who do I need to give way to?
Everyone.
If I’m going any which way at a roundabout, who do I need to give way to?
People on the right and people from straight ahead that are going to the right and are already in the roundabout. Basically anyone who will cross paths with you.
How do I do a three point turn?
MISMM to the right, go VERY slow and don’t touch curbs or use driveways.
When passing into another lane (dual carriage way) what do I need to do?
MISMM whichever way I’m turning.
How would I do a parallel park?
Mirrors, indicate left. Slowly pull up close next to another car, stop when backs are aligned. Rotate wheel left once, head check both sides, reverse until taillight’s of other car are in the middle of your passenger window. Rotate wheel to the right once, reverse until lines in camera near the kerb (if no camera, check all mirrors). Rotate once right again, reverse until parallel to the curb. Rotate once left and go forwards til 2 metres from the car in front. Park.
When leaving a parallel park, what do I do?
Reverse a little, turn wheel once right, MISMM to the right.
What do I need to be paying attention to at all times whilst driving?
Mirrors, indicating, head-checking, looking ahead, what gear I’m in, who’s around me, what’s happening, brake and accelerator, etc.
How fast/slow can I go?
No more than 5km above speed limit or 10km below.
When changing lanes or diverging, I ALWAYS MUST:
Head check.
