Use the smallest effective dose
 Use tried and tested drugs wherever possible in preference to new agents
 Minimize prescribing
 Warn the pregnant women about the risks of Smoking, Alcohol, OTC over the
counter drugs and drugs of abuse
 Keep Naloxone available in case of administering opioids to mother to treat
neonatal respiratory depression
