Drugs used in treatment of cardiac arrest

Question 1

Adrenaline

Answer 1

Dose: 1mg (10mL 1:10000, 1mL 1:1000)
Indication: Given after 3rd shock in ALS algorithm and subsequently every 3-5mins (or every other cycle)

Question 2

Amiodarone

Answer 2

Dose: 300mg bolus IV (diluted to 20mL in 5% dextrose), 150mg bolus
Indication: 300mg given after 3rd shock in ALS algorithm, another 150mg given after 5th shock if still VF/pVT

Question 3

Calcium

Answer 3

Dose: 10mL 10% calcium chloride or 30mL 10% calcium gluconate
Indication: PEA caused by hyperkalaemia, hypocalcaemia or overdose of CCB
