Q

What is Du Bois’ analysis of the black condition in the early 20th century?

A

One of continuing domination, despite emancipation. Du Bois points to the failure to create an even playing field for blacks after emancipation. This gives the old planter class the opportunity to regroup and create a new, but still unequal social order.
