DWO STUDY GUIDE Flashcards
What is TCT and ORM?
TCT is a team coming together to accomplish one goal.
ORM is 5 risk assessments we use to mitigate risk.
- Identify hazards
- assess hazards
- define and control
- implement
- supervise
What is GAR 2.0?
low, med and high-risk assessment scale used for GAR.
What is a class A mishap? B mishap?
A- injury or occupational illness resulting in a fatality or permanent disability. Vessel damage 1 million or greater. CG asset is missing or abandoned or small boat is 50k + in property damage.
B- injury or occupational illness resulting in a fatality or permanent disability. Vessel damage more than 200k but less than 1 million. 3 or more personal are inpatients hospitalized. Boat damaged 50k +
What is a class C and D mishap?
Class C - occupational injury or illness results in 1 day or more of missed work. Green belt for more than 30 days. Cutter damage from 20k to 200k. Boat damage 20k to 50k. Person falls overboard or pier. a grounding, capsizing or rollover greater than 90 degrees.
D mishap- occupational illness or injury more than simple first aid. Restricted duty less than 30 days. Firearm discharge, shock, fire occurs. Minimal or no damage to personnel.
what is a class D HIpo?
mishap where a high potential of reoccurrence, even though there was minimal or no damage or injury sustained.
what is a material safety data sheet?
Sheets rate the substance in 3 categories: health, reactivity, and flammability. For each hazardous material are located with a master file.
Where are eyewash locations located?
within 10 seconds or 100 unobstructed feet of the eye hazardous operations.
What is the OIC responsibilities?
safety, well being and efficiency of the crew. Delegates jobs to the crew to work well and safe.
What is the XPO resp?
a direct representative of the OIC. Primary responsible for the organization, coordination of effort, a performance of duty, and good order and discipline.
Coast guard has eleven missions what are they?
- SAR
- Aton
- Port waterways and coastal security

- Living marine sources
- Marine safety
- Defense readiness
- Migrant interdiction
- Marine environmental protection
- Ice ops
- Other law enforcement
what are the defense operational readiness?
alpha= underway
bravo 0 = ready in 30 min
bravo 2 = respond in 2 hrs
Charlie = maintenance
What is conditions of readiness and the status of equipment? under the DoD ensures CG assets are capable and equipped to deploy and conduct joint ops in support following major national defense.
Condition 1= cutter is highest level of readiness, all engineering and weapons are ready for immediate use. All personnel are at their assigned post.
Condition III?
set during wartime or other high-intensity ops U/W. Self-defense.
Condition IV?
Self-defense
Condition V?
is set when the cutter is inport.
What is defense readiness conditions?
are graduated to match situations of varying military severity or status of alert.
What is Defcon?
Defense Readiness Conditions- progressive alerts between the chief of staff and the combatant commands. Defcon matches military severity or status of alert.
Defcon levels?
Defcon 5 is normal
Defcon 4 is increased intelligence and strengthen security measures.
Defcon 3 is force readiness above normal readiness.
Defcon 2 is increased in FR, but less than Max readiness.
Defcon 1 is Max force readiness.
What are terrorist threat conditions?
Threatcon alpha= general threat of possible terrorist activity directed against units and personnel.
Bravo= increased and more predictable threat of terrorist activity exist.
Charlie= incident occurs or when intelligence is received indicating a form of terrorist action against units and personnel is imminent.
Delta= terrorist attack has occurred.
What is Maritime Security Levels?
its the CGs three-tiered system of maritime security levels to communicate pre-planned scalable responses for credible threats.
Marsec 1- minimum appropriate security measures shall be maintained at all times.
Marsec 2- the heightened risk of a transportation security incident.
Marsec 3- when a transportation security incident is probable, imminent, or has occurred, although it may not be possible to identify the specific target.
What is the Heavy wx bill?
When the ood restricts movement throughout the ship due to heavy wx.
What is a wildcat?
