A
2 week wait referral for endoscopy

How do you manage new onset dyspepsia?
A
- Stop NSAIDs
- Simple antacids
- Test for H.pylori - eradicate
- PPI

What is H.pylori?
A
Helicobacter pylori - gram negative helix shape bacteria

What is the effect of H.pylori?
A
Produces urease – converts urea to ammonium – increases pH - damages gastric mucosa

Carbon-13 urea breath test
Stool antigen test
