A

Ringing in ears. Head rolling. Crying. Ear tugging. Red, bulging tympanic membrane.

Complications: perforation, mastoid/brain involvement

Myringotomy-tympanic membrane incision to relieve pressure.

Position on side of involved war to promote drainage

Meniere’s syndrome

A

Incapacitation vertigo. Tinnitus. Feeling of fullness and pressure. Headache. Nystagmus. Decrease in heating.

Antihistamines. Anitemetics. Diuretics. Bedrest.
Low sodium diet. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, nicotine

GBS

A

Motor losses symmetrical. Deep tendon reflexes disappear. Respiratory mucous compromise. Hypotension. Paralytic ileus. Sweating. Tachycardia.

Demyelination occurs.
Steroids. Mechanical ventilation.
Elevate HOB.

Complications: UTIs, aspiration, urinary retention.

A

Michael rigidity (stiff neck). Kernig’s sign(when hip flexed 90 degrees, complete extension of knee is restricted and painful). Changes in LOC. Seizures.
