Intellectual development

A

pre operational stage (2-7)
children cant properly understand ideas like number, mass and volume differences

but when they reach the concrete operational stage
- abstract thinking, ego centrism

Emotional development

A

E- They can control their emotions i.e. having less tantrums and telling people when they are upset and they are more empathetic.

During this age children start to develop their self-concept, gender roles and identity e.g. the way they want to dress or what toys they prefer.

Social development

A

S- Children begin to widen their social groups and form friendships with others.

By the age of 8 children will have what they call a best friend.
solitary play- children play alone using their imagination and don’t interact with other children.

parallel play- children play alongside others but not together.

onlooker play- children watch and copy other children.

social play- children play together and share toys.
