Explain the increased fears of crime

A

Cheap pamphlets carried stories on crime creating the impression that crime was rising rapidly.Executions were held in public publicising crime and speeches made by the one whos gonna be excuted was published for public to read.

A

Harsh punishments has been used to deter criminals and it was believed to be an effective way to reduce crime.

What was the landowners’ attitudes?

A

Government, who passed laws of Bloody Code, was made up of wealthy landowners. They feared the large number of poor people and saw them as a threat to their property and priveleges. Landowners believed that only harsh punishments would keep poor in place.
