Earth's Atmosphere Flashcards
Troposphere
0-17km above earth surface, site of weather, organisms, contains most atmospheric water vapour. ( pressure and temperature decrease )
Stratosphere
12 to 50km, ozone help here, absorbs uv radiation
Mesosphere
Layer of earth atmosphere where temperature decreases, area where meteors burn up.
Thermosphere
Layers of the earths atmosphere where solar radiation reacts with gas molecules to form auroras
Exosphere
The outer layer of the atmosphere, extending outward into space
Evaporation
A liquid gets enough energy to turn into a gas
Condensation
Phase change occurring when a gas loses enough energy to form into a liquid
Transition
Evaporation of water from the leaves of the plant
Sublimation
The phase change in which a substance changed in which a substance changes from a solid to a gas or Vapour without changing to a liquid first
Precipitation
The falling to earth of any form of water ( rain or snow or hail or sleet or mist )
