Define Earthquake
Earthquake is a shock that the equal or violent shaking of the Earth’s surface
caused by the sudden movement of rock materials beneath it.

○ Seismograph is an instrument that measures and records details of earthquakes,
such as force and duration.
Define seismogram
○ Seismogram is a record produced by the seismograph.

Magnitude is a measure of the total energy released at the earthquake’s point of
origin which is below the Earth’s surface.
Define Intensity
Intensity is the perceived strength of an earthquake backed on the relative effect
on people and structures on the Earth’s surface.
