Recurrent episodes of binge eating (eating lots, with a sense of lack of control)
Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviour to prevent weight gain (self-induced vomiting, laxatives, diuretics, medications, fasting, excessive exercise)
Binge eating and compensatory behaviour occur at least once a week for 3 months
Self-evaluation is influenced by body shape and weight
