ECG Flashcards
Atrial flutter
Recurring, regular, sawtoothed-shaped flutter waves.
Complete heart block
More P waves than QRS complexes. PR interval is variable.
Second degree AV block, type 2
Presence of more P waves than QRS complexes. PR interval is constant on conducted beats. Reflects an intermittent block of atrial impulses
Atrial fibrillation
Total disorganization of atrial electrical activity resulting in the loss of effective atrial contraction. Rate 350-600/min. P waves are not visible (replaced by fibrillatory waves). Amiodarone. Cardioversion possible.
P waves
Atrial depolarization. SA node originated impulse. Atrial systole
QRS complex
Ventricular depolarization
PR segment
Length of time it takes for the impulse to travel through the AV node, bundle of His, and Purkinje fibers. Ventricular systole
T wave
Ventricular repolarization. Ventricular diastole.
