ECG Flashcards
(17 cards)
prolonged p wave
intra-atrial conduction delay
prolonged PR interval
AV block
prolonged QRS duration
intra-ventricular conduction delay
prolonged QT interval
delayed depolarization
normal p wave duration
0.12 sec
normal PR interval duration
0.12-0.20 sec
normal QRS duration
0.04-0.10 sec
sinus arrhythmia
heart rate accelerates w/ inspiration and shows w/ expiration
premature atrial contration leads
II, III, AVF
wandering atrial pacemaker
benign rhythm
pacemaker shifts between SA and AV node.
P haves are sometimes inverted.
premature junctional beat/junctional premature complex
normal QRS, often absent or inverted P wave.
junctional escape beat
beat right after prolonged pause. looks just like junctional premature complex but happens after pause. normal QRS, inverted or absent P wave.
sinus arrhythmias
- sinus tach/sinus brady
- sinus arrhythmia
- sinus arrest/sinus exit block
- asystole
- escape beats
ectopic rhythms
abnormal rhythms that arise from somewhere other than the sinus node
re-entrant rhythms
disorder of impulse transmission. re-entrant circuit is when a signal travels via a different pathway because normal pathway isn’t conducting quickly enough. often due to damage by ischemia or fibrosis.
four questions to ask yourself to determine if arrhythmia is present
- normal P waves?
- QRS complexes narrow?
- is there a P for each QRS?
- is the rhythm regular?
supraventricular arrhythmias
- atrial premature beat
- junctional premature beat
- paroxysmal supraventricular tachy
- atrial flutter
- atrial fibrillation
- multifocal atrial tachycardia
- paroxysmal atrial tachy
