ECG interpretation basics - Images Flashcards
(9 cards)
Monomorphic VT.
Rate: 100-250bpm,
Rhythm: Regular,
Resemblance: Monomorphic.
P waves absent (therefore no PR interval),
T waves absent (therefore no QT interval),
Wide/Broad complex >0.12s
Normal Sinus Rhythm.
Regular P waves, round & upright lead II.
Each P wave followed by a QRS complex.
Ventricular Fibrillation (VF).
Rate: Rapid,
Rhythm: Irregular/Chaotic,
Resemblance: Polymorphic.
Can not ID/Discern:
* P wave,
* T wave,
* QRS complex.

Monomorphic VT.
Rate: 100-250bpm,
Rhythm: Regular,
Resemblance: Monomorphic.
P waves absent (therefore no PR interval),
T waves absent (therefore no QT interval),
Wide/Broad complex >0.12s
Atrial Flutter
Rate: Atrial rate rapid >300bpm,
Rhythm: Regular.
Resemblance: F waves forming saw tooth pattern.
P wave: F waves present,
PR interval: F wave/QRS ratio 3:1,
QRS: Narrow <0.12s.
- P waves can be inverted in II, III & aVF.
Atrial Fibrillation
Rate: Rapid uncoordinated atrial contraction,
Rhythm: QRS complex are irregularly irregular,
No regular P waves - quivering/fibrillating.
Resemblance: Fibrillatory waves can be fine or coarse and sometimes look like P waves leading to mis-dx,
Absence of an isoelectric baseline.
Atrial Fibrillation
Rate: Rapid uncoordinated atrial contraction,
Rhythm: QRS complex are irregularly irregular,
No regular P waves - quivering/fibrillating.
Resemblance: Fibrillatory waves can be fine or coarse and sometimes look like P waves leading to mis-dx,
Absence of an isoelectric baseline.
Atrial Flutter
Rate: Atrial rate rapid approx ,
Rhythm: Regular.
Resemblance: F waves making saw tooth pattern,
P waves: Flutter waves or F waves present,
PR interval: F waves are consistent, 3 to every QRS (2:1 or 3:1 is typically),
QRS: 0.12s (normal)
