Ecology
Ecology is the study of the environment, and helps us understand how organisms live with each other in unique physical environments.
Ecosystem
a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.
Community
An ecological community is a group of actually or potentially interacting species living in the same location. Communities are bound together by a shared environment and a network of influence each species has on the other.
Habitat
the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.
Biotic
relating to or resulting from living organisms.
Abiotic
physical rather than biological; not derived from living organisms.
qualitative
relating to, measuring, or measured by the quality of something rather than its quantity.
Quantitative
relating to, measuring, or measured by the quantity of something rather than its quality.
Competition
the activity or condition of striving to gain or win something by defeating or establishing superiority over others.
Adaptation
the action or process of adapting or being adapted.
Interdependence
the dependence of two or more people or things on each other.
