What are the uses of CBT in everyday life
Research shows that people with a disorder such as depression are less likely to suffer a
relapse after having cognitive therapy
Even though cognitive therapy
might initially be more expensive than drug therapy,
in the long-term it might be more economically effective to offer people cognitive therapy as they would have less time off work.
What are the economic implications of CBT
More effective treatments could reduce the number of cases of
depression and help people return to work.
This will reduce absenteeism and reduce sick pay payments
Providing strategies that
can help patients manage their
psychological conditions may increase productivity in the
workplace while reducing the strain/cost on the NHS
