-capitalism encourages criminality by encouraging self-interest and materialism and making people aspire to unrealistic and unattainable standards

-capitalism creates inequality and poverty leading to higher crime rates

-White collar crime is ignored by authorities to allow ruling class to maintain power. This shows gov criminalises the masses and creates crime by attempting to control and imprison those who do not conform.

-Because of these unattainable standards many people turn to crime to attempt to acheive this leading the crime rate to go up
-because capitalism creates poverty people in desperate situations are forced into crime just to survive leading crime rates to go up
-because white collar crime is ignored that is why we see higher rates of blue collar crime because they are over policed and scrutinised more heavily

    -the rate of poverty and the rate of crime in dundee could be linked with people getting desperate and turning to crime either for survival or an escape from the stress
