What’s a ecosystem
An ecosystem is an area in which there exists relationships between living organisms and the living organisms and the non-living environment.
Examples of a ecosystem
river, a grassland, a fallen rock.
Definition of Ecology
The study the interactions of
organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.
Definition of a Organism/Individual
Individual animal/organism (eg. single elephant)
Definition of a Population
group of organisms of the same species living in the same
place (eg. herd or several herds of elephant living in the Kruger Park)
Definition of a Community
all animal and plant populations in an area (eg. elephant,
giraffe, tree species, grass species, aquatic animals etc)
Definition of a Habitat
particular place where an organism lives
The order for smallest to biggest terminology
Organism → population → community → ecosystem → biome → biosphere

The direction in which a surface faces in relation to the sun. North and South facing slopes
What’s the Slope:
The gradient of the land. Gentle or steep
What’s the Altitude:
Height of land above sea level (high altitudes are colder with less oxygen)
