Ecosystem Flashcards
(30 cards)
Ecosystem
Is the interaction of biotic and abiotic elements.
Ecology
The study of ecosystems.
Abiotic
Non-living
Biotic
Living
Photosynthesis
Is the process by which plants make their food by using carbon dioxide, water and sunlight.
Cellular Respiration
Is the process by which organisms take in oxygen and glucose, to produce water and carbon dioxide.
Herbivores
Organisms that only eat plants.
Carnivores
Organisms that only eat meat.
Omnivores
Organisms that eat both plants and meat.
Producer
Organisms that make their own food.
Primary Consumers
Organisms that eat the producers, they are usually herbivores.
Secondary Consumers
Organisms that eat the primary consumers, they are usually carnivores and omnivores.
Tertiary Consumers
Organisms that eat the secondary consumers, they are usually carnivores and omnivores.
The reasons why producers are important.
They produce oxygen.
They supply food.
They provide shelter.
