1
Q

What is Alpine WSG and how long does it take to activate?

A

Alpine WSG is is a non repellent that has a transfer effect of 1 to 50. The active ingredient is dinotefuran that directly attacks the central nervous system and eventually paralyzing the insects that come across it.

2
Q

What is Termidor and what makes Termidor so effective?

A

Termidor is a product we use for ants. Active ingredient is fiprinol. Termidor is so effective because it is completely odorless, tasteless, and undetectable by ants. Because it is undetectable it does take a couple weeks to activate.

3
Q

What is Temprid SC? What pest is Temprid SC mainly used for?

A

Temprid SC is a non repellent (imidacloprid) and a repellent (beta cyfluthrin) used for bed bugs. because Temprid is so active and effective, there is no need for an IGR to be mixed in with it. The way that Temprid SC is formulated makes it a non repellent.

4
Q

What is Archer and what insects do we mainly treat with it.

A

Archer is an insect growth regulator (priproxyfen) used on misquitoes and German cockroach services.

5
Q

Since Archer is an insect growth regular, what hormone does it effect and what do we tell customers to expect when applied?

A

Archer effects the juvenile hormone of insects (mainly cockroaches and mosquitoes), and it’s important to let the customer know that it will keep the insects in the instar stages. So they’re still going to see cockroaches but only the instar stages will be seen because they cannot grow the reproductive organs needed to breed.

6
Q

What is the benefit of mixing Archer with Alpine WSG?

A

Mixing an insect growth regulator along with a non repellent that also has a transfer effect will decrease a lot of activity. This is ideal for pests like German cockroaches that reproduce so quickly.

7
Q

What is Demand CS? Why is it different than Tandem?

A

Demand CS is a pyrethroid (repellent) used in the fall and winter seasons. Where as tandem is a non repellent. Since Demand SC is a repellent, it’s always good to tell that customer that it might increase activity because it will irritate insects

8
Q

What is Tandem? What are some benefits that tandem has?

A

Tandem has a neonicitinoid (thiamethoxam) mixed with a pyrethroid (lamda cyalotheran) The pyrethroid offers a quick knockdown while the neonicitinoid has a long lasting residual . the way it is formulated makes it a non repellent.

9
Q

What are contrac blox so much more effective than using DECON?

A

Contrac blox is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that is allowed to pass through the system of a rodent. Decon will instantly kill the rodent and other rodents will come by and sniff the mouth of the dead rodent and associate it with the smell of the Decon creating bait shyness. Whereas contrac blox is allowed to pass through the rodents system meaning there is no smell when the rodent sniffs the mouth of the dead rodents and doesn’t cause bait shyness.

10
Q

Why is mouse feces, urine, and saliva harmful to people?

A

The feces, saliva, and urine have diseases known as hantaviruses. Infection with hantavirus can progress toHantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), which can be fatal. People become infected through contact with hantavirus-infected rodents or their urine and droppings.

11
Q

Why is nitrogen fertilizing important for lawn care?

A

Nitrogen is of vital importance to the physiology of plants. It plays a critical role in the process of photosynthesis by which plants manufacture their own food from sunlight. Further, nitrogen is essential in plants’ manufacturing of proteins and in virtually every other aspect of plant physiology. Plants that are deficient in nitrogen grow poorly and develop yellowing leaves.

12
Q

What areas do we want to avoid while spraying inside and outside services.

A

inside avoid spraying clothes, furniture, food items, personal items, on the wall itself, curtains, dark wood floors, anywhere where humans or pets touch.
outside avoid water features, pets food, furniture, chicken coops, Windows, gardens, personal items.

13
Q

What is the personal protective equipment required for the state of utah.

A

Long Sleeve shirts, Pants, boots, glasses, rubber gloves

14
Q

What is the personal protective equipment required for mosquito treatments

A

long sleeve shirts, pants, boots, rubber gloves, face shield, hearing protection

15
Q

Why is the winter service essential?

A

the winter service is essential because we use Demand CS which is a repellent to keep bugs away from the house. Wasps will go dormant in the first story eaves, ants will dig below the permafrost levels, spiders will hide in the cracks and crevices of the house. Another benefit is we go through and plug up possible entry points with copper mesh which is great for wasps and rodents.

16
Q

What is the active ingredient for Alpine WSG? also is it a pyrethroid or neonicitinoid?

A

Dinotefuran, neonicitinoid

17
Q

What is the active ingredients for Tandem? Which one is a pyrethroid and which one is the neonicitinoid?

A

Thiamethoxam-neonicitinoid

lambda cyhalothrin-pyrethroid

18
Q

What are the active ingredients for Temprid SC? Which one was the pyrethroid and which one is the neonicitinoid?

A

Imidacloprid- neonicitinoid

Beta cyfluthrin -pyrethroid

19
Q

What is the active ingredient for archer? Which hormone does it effect for insects such as mosquitoes and German cockroaches?

A

priproxyfen, juvenile hormone

20
Q

What is the active ingredient for Demand CS? Is it classified as a pyrethroid or neonicitinoid?

A

Lamda cyhalothrin-pyrethroid

21
Q

What is the active ingredient for termidor? What class is the active ingredient associated as?

A

Fiprinol- phenylpyrazole chemical family

22
Q

Why is it important to let a customer know to not spray Raid/Orkin home defense over the products we just sprayed?

A

Raid/Orkin home defense is a pyrethroid, as the products we use are mainly neonicitinoids. Therefore spraying a repellent over a non repellent will cancel out our products. Also repellents will actually make problems worse for ants because they can detect it’s there and move on to new areas.

23
Q

Why do we tell people to expect an increase of ants and other insects?

A

Heavy rains can cause an increase in ant invasions in your home. Ants build their colonies underground, so naturally, when the soil becomes wetter and wetter, they need a safe, dry place to escape the rain and forage for food.
The reasons that bugs come out of the ground after a rain are very straightforward. When it rains, the holes and cracks in the ground in which they live fill up with rainwater. This does not kill the bugs; instead, it forces them to climb up out of the ground and to spend some time on the surface areas near your house.
