What - Irritation of the achilles tendon.
Why - Increase in load
When -
How - Relative rest, avoid high impact activities such as running and jumping
Specific Management Advice - cushioned shoes, 5/10 NRS
Lateral ankle sprain
What - Strain the ligament on outside of foot
Why - Foot rolls outwards
When - Simple - 3-4wk, partial or complete rupture - 6-8wk, post op - 12-16wk
How - gentle movement, strength and balance exercises, avoid high impact and side to side movements

What - Thick band that runs underneath foot is irritated
Why - Overuse, high BMI, increase in load
When - Varies from a couple weeks to couple of months
How - Relative rest, gel heel cup (if they feel like they need them. Not too much evidence but they’re cheaper than orthotics even tho they don’t do too much either)
SMA - 5/10, no residual pain within 24hrs
