Q

How does education reduce social issues caused by overpopulation?

A

Highly educated women have fewer children due to knowledge of family planning. It was concluded that the number of girls’ schooling years affected a country’s fertility rate.

In the mid 1970s, 12% of girls reached the lower secondary school level, and the country’s fertility rate was 7.6 births per woman.

In the mid 2010s, 59% of girls reached the lower secondary school level, and the country’s fertility rate was 4 births per woman.

Q

Give an example of benefits of governance in education.

A

It acts as a liberalizing mechanism which triggers revolt when people realise the incongruence between their aspirations and the government’s incapability to fulfil them.

The Arab Spring Uprising and Hong Kong riots were led by educated youths, who understood what exemplary governance and democracy was.

The Hong Kong riots were triggered by a bill allowing extraditions to Mainland China.
Following the riots, HK Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, withdrew the bill.

Q

Give an example of the drawbacks caused by governance in education.

A

Education is sadly used to control the populace and demand obedience, and is used to indoctrinate students and children into radical beliefs.

North Korean children are raised to worship their leaders; the unquestioning acceptance of state practices is promoted.
Children are even trained to ‘honorably’ perform in winter for state leader Kim Jong Un.
