Bad due to treaty of Boulogne prot changes pressure for Mary to go prot and breakdown in cloth trade in neths 1550 CV started inquisition in neths of prots modified to not include foreigners but lots of merchants prot so collapse in cloth trade 1551 CV threat to invade eng so respond with trade embargo with selling cloth to neths hurt both economies and CV wanted alliance due to threat of France so 1552 attempt to improve relations between Eng and neths. Eng did not help either side acted as a mediator Jan 1553 fr not interested and July 1553 negotiations broke down Eng not involved due to succession crisis and don’t want to be involved in Habsburg Valois wars
