Who were the ancient Egyptians?
Hunter gatherers
Where was ancient Egypt?
In northern Africa along a 750 mile stretch of the Nile river
The Nile river was hard to access because of a bleak desert surrounding it

they grew wheat, barley, fruits and vegetables, and they raised cattle and sheep and trapped, wild geese, and ducks

They were elaborate tombs for pharaohs

hieroglyphics - pictographs carved into stone or other materials
What is papyrus?
paper made out of reads. Scribes wrote on papyrus with brushes and ink.

What are pharaohs?
pharaoh is a god sent to manage and watch over people
What is the purpose of embalming and mummification?
To preserver the body so that the spirirt can have a good afterlife

The homes of the gods
