Describe the climate and geography of Ancient Egypt
The Black Zone was a habitable area because of the Nile River. The Red Zone was hot and deemed uninhabitable. And of course, Egypt was and still is sandy.
Describe the importance of the Nile and its impact on the civilization.
The Nile River allowed for crop growth and drinkable water, two very essential things for society.
Who were important rulers and what were they known for?
Hatshepsut: Building a great many statues and monuments to celebrate her rule and she was one of history’s earliest recorded female rulers. Ramses II: Expanded the Egyptian empire’s land and developed it’s military more. Tut: One of the youngest rulers of Egypt and was one of the first pharaohs to be found after the Valley of the Kings was declared exhausted. Khufu: He was buried in one of the first pyramids.
What was the social hierarchy of ancient Egypt? Who had power and who did not?
The pharaoh, vizier, priests, nobles, and scribes held the most power. Soldiers, artisan workers farmers, and slaves held less power, particularly slaves and farmers.
What purpose did pyramids and the mummification process serve?
These were methods that were used to ensure that the pharaoh safely enters the afterlife with his/her body intact.
Who conquered ancient Egypt during the Middle Kingdom and how were they able to do this?
The Hyksos people invaded Egypt by using an influx of refugees that were coming in to Egypt.
What were the most notable achievements of the civilization?
Their most notable achievements were the ability to perform surgery, their scientific discovery about the moon, sun, and stars, the creation of the calendar, and the use of the golden ratio in their architectural designs
