Why were tombs important? Why were paintings and sculptures around tombs?
Everything they thought a pharaoh would need for the afterlife
What was the purpose of Egyptian paintings?
To keep people from being forgotten, you will not go to the afterlife if you are forgotten.
Why was Egypt Perfect for growing food?
They had fertile soil so they could grow many different crops.
How was Egypt protected by it’s enemies?
It had an Impassable desert, Nile had impassable rapids and man eating crocodiles.
What was the great sphinx built for?
The great sphinx was built so once thought as a guardian angel. The body was a lion so strength, and the head of a human so knowledge.
Why did they build pyramids? What was their significance? How did they build the pyramids?
So they could keep tombs of
pharaohs and important people
1.) They built a sand mound
2.) Sand mounds evolved into Mastabas
3.)Several mastabas turned into step pyramids.
4.) Eventually step pyramids became true pyramids
