Why is Egypt called “The gift of the Nile”?
Egypt was called that because it was a good source of food and water and had very good transportation. With out the Nile nobody would survive
Egypt was divided into the “Black land and Red land.” What does that mean?
Red land is the hot land that stands for the desert and the Black land is what became a rich soil
White Nile
The White Nile flows from Lake Victoria.
Blue Nile
The Blue Land rushes down from the highlands of present-day Ethiopia
Kush or Nubia
In ancient times, northern Sudan was known as Nubia, or Kush
Sahara
Sahara, a vast desert that stretches across most of Northern Africa.
Delta
A delta is an area of sediment soil or minerals carried by water-deposited at the mouth of the Nile
Upper Egypt
This region is known as Upper Egypt because it is upstream from the Mediterranean Sea
Lower Egypt
The Nile Delta forms the region known as Lower Egypt
Black land
The yearly flood of the Nile created the Black land. Each summer, heavy rainfall, in East Africa poured into the Nile’s sources. Flood waters surged through Egypt. When the flood waters drained away, they left behind a layer of fresh soil.
Red land
On either side of the black lay vast deserts. The Red land Unlike the Black land the Red land was deadly place of hot, burning sands.
Social Stratification and Ranking
The goods and services in the societies were split equally between everybody in the society and evenly among the people population
Sedentism
People had bison and reindeers to help lift the heavy things and tools that they would use to make buildings and houses for when the next season
Trade
Amber is natural resin which makes its way out of a tree and may fossilize at some point. Amber is mostly yellow or yellow brown. It’s pretty when you polish it. When it’s fresh resin collects insects or leaves sticky clutches. Resins which came become Amber are found wherever certain kinds of trees oozing sap. This maybe good for trade because they can be used for jewelry and decoration.
Metallurgy
Archaeologist used metallurgy when they would study the ancient progress of producing certain objects made of different objects made out of different metals including smelters
Craft specialization
Pots were very important, but hard to make because women made the pots and if they had a family, she couldn’t cook for them. The daughter (if they had one) had to make the food and if they didn’t have son, either they had the women slaves make it or they bought the food
