Q

Slow flight

A

Clearing turns, FP&LL on full rich mixture. Power to 1600rpm, waitfor 55knts while applying full flaps to bleed speed faster. To maintain slow flight wait for speed to reach 55knts and add 2100rpms, stay coordinated thru slip-skid indicator, only turn 10* @a time. To recover full power, let nose sink a tiny bit. Look for positive airspeed, altitude, rate of climb. Let go of first flaps, once again positive a/a/roc then @ 63 release 2nd flaps. Once again positive a/a/roc then @ 79 clean up flaps, get back to initial altitude& do cruise checklist.

Q

Power off stall

A

Clearing turns/ FP&LL on, mixture full rich, note altitude&heading, power to 1600& apply full flaps quickly. @ 65knts pitch down for 500 fpm for 3 seconds then go idle and pitch for 0 vsi, callout stall warning, buffer, and full stall then full power for recovery while maintaining heading. Add flaps once establish positive a/a/roc, then wait for 63 and positive a/a/roc release second notch of flaps, then postive a/a/roc & 79knts and clean up and establish begining heading and altitude while doing cruise checklist which is FP&LL off mixture lean for cruise and rpms 2100

Q

Iceflags

A

Inversion
Transition from climb to straight and level, feel as tumbling backwards
Coriolis force
Confusion caused by turning head abruptly in a constant rate turn
Elevator
Updraft makes pilot feel theyre in a climb and they pitch down too much
False horizons
Not seeing landmarks or horizons can make you align falsely
Leans
Unknown constant rate turn tricks leveled to feel opposite bank turn
Autokenesis
When you stare at something too long it starts moving on its own
Graveyard spiral
Unnoticed Turn tricks leveled into opposite bank, nose drops and pilot pulls yoke to gain altitude and tightens turn
Somatogravic
Rapid acceleration gives a sensation of pitching up, pilot pushed down on yoke causing a dive

Q

Electrical Fire (smoke in the cabin)

A

Master Switch…..off
Electrical Equipment.off
Vents…open
Cabin Heat..off
Communicate…
..Squawk 7700/Declare
Land as soon as practical

17
Q

Loss of fuel pressure

A

Electric Fuel Pump…ON
Fuel Selector……CHECK ON FULLEST TANK

18
Q

High Oil Temperature

A

Land as soon as possible and investigate cause. Prepare for power off landing.
*Possible low oil level, faulty baffle seals, or damage air vent.

19
Q

Alternator Failure

A

Verify Failure: Reduce electrical load as much as possible.
Alternator Circuit Breakers…СНЕСК
Alternator Switch..”OFF” (for 1 sec.) Then “ON”
If no output:
Alternator Switch..off
Reduce electrical load and land as soon as practical.

21
Q

Power on stall

A

Clearing turns, fp&LL on, mixture full rich, note heading&altitude, power 1600 and maintain altitude. Wait for 60 then pitch up about 15*& apply 2300 rpm until stall warning, buffer(shaking), full stall. To recover apply full power&release the nose forward smoothly. Reset to original heading&altitude& do cruise checklist

22
Q

Steep turns

A

Look outside and inside. Get a good feel for the amount of load-factor you should be experiencing. Make sure to use ample rudder. Then, when you’ve rolled into the steep turn, trim is your friend, roll out, un-trim.

Start to roll into the turn Through 30* add power to maintain airspeed Trim away the back pressure

Your scan of the instruments should be something like Altitude

Outside

Attitude

Outside

Airspeed

Outside

Repeat

As you get about 30 degrees out from where you reverse the turn, roll wings level and push forward to maintain altitude, then as you roll into the turn in the other direction you should be all trimmed up.

engine fire during start
starter..crank engine, mixture cutoff, throttle open, electric fuel pump off, fuel selector off, abandon if continues.
33
engine power loss in flight
trim vg 76 kots, fuel selector to fullest tank, mixture rich, electric fuel pump on, carb heat on, engine gauges check, magnetos(check both) if power restored carb heat off, electric fuel pump off, if not establish vg 76 knots & power off landing procedure
34
power off landing procedure
trim for vg 76 knots, locate suitable landing field, establish spiral pattern, communicate squawk 7700/declare, flaps up. 1k feet above field at downwind position for normal landing flaps as desired, throttle close, mixture idle, ignition off, master switch off, fuel selector off, seatbelt &harness fastened, contact surface @ minimal airspeed.
