What is irony?
Irony is where something, like an event or words, are the opposite of what was expected to happen, “hypocritical”.
“Sally was angry because Billy wasn’t following the rules. The ironic thing is that Sally wasn’t following the rules, either.”
What is an oxymoron?
literary device that uses two words with opposing or contradictory meanings - for example, “old news”.

Using an object to represent something else. For example, doves symbolize peace.

An over- exaggeration to add emotion or make things interesting

Text that has a potential deeper/hidden meaning within.
Euphemism
The kind way to say something
Ex. Dead= passed away

Short= Vertically challenged
Assonance
When the sound of a vowel is repeated multiple times in a sentence.
Dramatic Irony
The opposite of expected happens, often in a humourous haha manner.

The choice or use of words in a text

Personification is a literary device that gives objects human-like traits. For example, “the northern lights danced across the sky”.
Paradox
Reveals something to be true that may have not seemed that way originally
OR
An undetermined result or outcome of something specific
Foreshadowing
Hinting, or giving a clue to what will happen later.

To introduce the setting, character, and basic situation
