Elbow Ligaments Flashcards
(5 cards)
3 ligaments of the elbow
Ulnar collateral ligament
Radial collateral ligament
Annular ligament
Ulnar collateral
Triangular shaped
Referred as medial collateral ligament
Origin— medial epicondyle
Insertion— coronoid process
Radial collateral
Cordlike band Also known as lateral collateral ligament
Origin—lateral epicondyle of the humerus
Insertion— annular ligament and olecranon
Annular
Wraps around head and the neck of the radius
Supports proximal radius against ulna during pro and supernation
Origin— anterior radial notch
Insertion— posterior radial notch
Bursa
Olecranon bursa
On the elbow— distal to triceps tendon/ the space between olecranon process and the skin of the elbow creating friction
