Elco 2418

A

A light color low odor sulfurized mixture of natural fatty acids. It has been synthesized to provide mostly inactive sulfur with good solubility. Designed to be used in metalworking formulations and greases. Its sulfur activity increases with temperature resulting in an effective EP performance. The product does not contain any copper corrosion inhibitor, and is mildly corrosive at elevated temperatures. Because of this, adding corrosion inhibitor is recommended. It may be solubilized in water easily with an addition of alkanolamine. When used in grease, it will improve friction and reduce wear of the finished product.

gear oils and greases. When blended in suitable base oils at a concentration of 3.5 wt%, it will
meet the U.S. Steel Service Requirement 224. The additive imparts good oxidation inhibition.
Lower concentrations will meet U.S. Steel Service Requirement 220 and AGMA Specifications
251.01 for Mild EP Lubricants for Industrial Gearing. At the lower concentrations, supplemental
defoamant and corrosion inhibitor may be required.
