Electric Cells Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
Cathode and anode reactions
A
More reactive metal is known as the anode(negative terminal). The less reactive metal is known as the cathode(positive terminal)
2
Q
What is a hydrogen fuel cell
A
A fuel cell is a chemical cell in which a fuel(in this case, hydrogen) and oxygen are continuously supplied to produce electricity directly.
3
Q
State a main way in which a fuel cell differs from a simple electric cell
A
In a fuel cell, reactants are not contained within the cell and needs to be continuously supplied from an external reservoir. In an electric cell, the chemical energy is stored within a closed system.
