1
Q
What does low potassium and high potassium do to conduction?
A
Low potassium lowers resting membrane potential so it makes it more automatic. High potassium slows conduction, so it widens the QRS.
2
Q
What does low and high calcium do to conduction?
A
Low calcium prolongs QT and high shortens QT.
3
Q
What does hypokalemia do to the T wave?
A
Inverts it or flattens it
4
Q
What else is present with hypokalemia?
A
Prominent U wave
5
Q
What 3 things do you see on EKG for hyperkalemia?
A
No p wave or flatter p wave, wide QRS and peaked t wave
6
Q
What does the EKG show for hypocalcemia and hypercalcemia?
A
Hypo lengthens and hyper shortens the qt
7
Q
What does low magnesium show on EKG?
A
Prolongs everything and depresses t wave.
