What are transistors?
A type of high speed electronic switch
What do you do instead of pressing a button on transistors?
You must send a signal of 0.7 volts to the base leg
What are transistors usually protected by?
Resistors
What is the function of a cell?
It transforms chemical energy into electrical energy
What is the function of a battery?
Two or more cells in a series
What is the function of a switch?
It connects components in a circuit
What is the function of a resistor?
It slows down the flow of electrons in a circuit.
What is the function of a variable resistor?
It slows down electrons. The resistance can change
What does LDR stand for?
Light dependant resistor
What does an LDR do?
The resistance depends on the light. More light = less resistance
What does a transistor do?
Regulates voltage flow
What is the function of a buzzer?
It buzzes
What does basic circuit consist of?
A power supply and an output device
What does a series circuit consist of?
More than one component in a series of
What is a parallel circuit?
When the components are arranged so that the current can get to one component without having to flow through the other ones
What is a complex circuit?
Have some components parallel, some in series. There must be a complete path for the current.
What is a battery made up of?
Multiple cells
What does LED stand for?
Light emitting diode
What does LDR stand for?
Light dependant resistor
What is a direct current?
The current only flows in 1 direction
What is the current?
The quantity of electrons passing a point in 1 second
What is the voltage?
The electrical pressure or force. It is equal to the supply voltage
What is the current measured in?
Amps (A)
What is the unit for the voltage?
Volts (V)
