What is a diode?
A component that will allow current to flow in one direction only.
What is forward bias?(diodes)
If the positive end of the battery is connected to the positive end of the diode, it is forward bias and can flow
What is reverse biased? (Diodes)
The positive end of battery is connected to negative end of diode, no electricity can flow.
What are diodes used for ?
Changing ac into dc
What do electronic devices such as calculators and tape recorders need?
Low voltage Dc
What is a light emitting diode?
A diode that gives out light when current flows through.
When will the current only flow?(LED)
When the LED is forward bias.
Why are LEDs useful?
They’re cheap, last longer, and use less current that lightbulbs
What is a light dependent resistor?
A resistor that depends on light.
What happens when light skin falls on a LDR?
Its resistance increases, this high resistance will slow down the current going through the circuit.
What is electronics?
Careful and exact control of tiny amounts of electric current
Eg. Phone/ computers/ TVs ect
